How long do the band play for?
Performance times are usually up to 2 hours, which would be divided into either two 60-minute or three 40-minute sets. In our experience this is normally just right for evening receptions finishing at midnight. However, if you are planning to party past midnight or you’d prefer a longer performance, this can be arranged for an additional cost.
Can we request songs?
We welcome song suggestions and where possible will try to add them to our set if appropriate. A first dance can also be requested, although normally this is played via CD/iPod through our PA. Our set lists contain a vast selection of songs in many genres, so if there’s a particular style you prefer then we will happily cater our set towards it. If you have favourite songs that you would like to hear throughout the evening, we will endeavor to introduce them on your party playlist.
Can we choose the bands’ set list?
You’re welcome to email a list of your favourite songs from our repertoire. We will do our best to include these during our performance. However, please bear in mind that much of our set can sometimes be decided “on the fly” depending on the audience reaction. We have great experience in performing live and a gift for reading an audience. This works a lot better if we are given the freedom to perform beyond your expectations.
What happens when the band aren’t playing?
We can provide recorded music through our PA system using an mp3 player (such as an iPod) or a laptop, for no extra charge. This can be tailored towards background music, or party music so guests can still dance while the band aren’t performing. If you would like to provide your own MP3 player with personal playlists that’s is also fine.
Will I also need to book a DJ?
This completely depends on your vision (and budget) but in most cases it is not necessary. As mentioned above, we provide recorded music during the evening (which includes mixed music, requests, announcements, and basic lighting). This can eliminate the additional costs and inconvenience of booking a separate DJ. If you have specific requirements that only a DJ can provide (ie. dance music until dawn!), or you would prefer the look of a live DJ (smoke & lasers) – that is your decision.
We’d like a bigger band… maybe a female singer? …or a sax player?
We can arrange for an additional singer or instrumentalist for a larger, or different sound. Please ask when booking so we can discuss your needs and make appropriate adjustments. A bigger band doesn’t always mean a bigger sound. Whether booking Sam & Craig or BB3, the sound they produce is “bigger” than you’d expect. Unlike most other acts each performer is a lead singer in their own right. When they harmonize the sound is massive!
Can you provide a low-key set earlier in the day?
Quite often clients book Sam & Craig for the afternoon, and BB3 for the evening. BB3 can also perform acoustic sets if required. If you are already booking us for your evening event, we can cater your entire package to include additional performances. Please ask when booking.
What do the band wear?
Clothing is similar to that shown in the photographs (usually smart or smart-casual). If you have any preference to the bands dress code (such as black tie) please ask when booking.
Do the band travel?
Although we are based in the south of England we regularly travel all over the country (also overseas). Travel costs are considered when preparing a quote so please include a post code. In some cases it maybe necessary for you to provide accommodation.
Can we come and see the band live?
We know it’s important to see us in person so get in touch and we can let you know about our upcoming shows. Alternatively, check out the Public Events tab at the top of the page. During peak seasons we do less public performances and occasionally events can be cancelled at a moments notice. Please check with venue before traveling to confirm events and save wasted journeys!
What time will the band arrive?
This is outlined in our enquiry letter and depends on the event and which band you have booked. A duo for example has less equipment than a band. A duo would need approximately 20-30mins to set up (depending on access). A band may need anywhere between 30-60 mins. This will be arranged during booking but generally for an evening event the band will arrive and set up from 6pm onwards. Extra charges usually apply for set-ups earlier than 6pm. Afternoon performances (eg. for ceremonies and drinks receptions) vary and should be discussed during booking as this will affect the cost.
Will the band need to sound-check?
Setting up can be done quietly and discreetly however, sound-checking involves playing a song together to adjust levels and ensuring each instrument is working and set correctly. This can take between 5-15 mins. If you would like to avoid sound-checks due to a strict timetable, a ‘line-check’ can be carried out minutes before performing. This is a simple test to make sure all equipment is powered up and ‘live’. For the best possible sound and to avoid any problems we would always recommend a full sound-check. It is sometimes possible to arrange an earlier setup in the day. This is dependent on location and may cost extra.
Will we need to provide any sound equipment?
We have our own PA and mobile lighting system which is suitable for most occasions. In certain cases (ie. large corporate events) an additional production company maybe required. Please check during booking.
What do we need from you?
To provide a quote the basic information we require is the date, location, start & finishing times, and of course which band you would prefer. If you are unsure of which band is suitable, we can help you decide according to your budget and requirements. If you have additional info (ie. an idea of room size, number of guests, you’ve already booked a dj, you want us to play for longer, if your venue has a sound limiter, etc.) please let us know as this gives us a greater understanding of your event.
How do we get a quote?
Send a message using our enquiry form or drop us an email. We will reply as soon as possible but please bear in mind that our schedule changes on a daily basis. If you don’t hear anything for a few days then we could be touring, rehearsing, recording etc. However, for peace of mind please feel free to try us again.
My venue needs to see Public Liability Insurance (PLI) and/or PAT certificates?
We have £1 million public liability insurance (PLI) and PAT certificates. Copies of certificates are available on request or from our downloads page.
Is the band on the website the band we get?
Once a booking is confirmed no line-up changes will be made. However, in the very rare circumstance that a replacement musician is required (due to matters out of our control), we do have a pool of fantastic musicians that we regularly share the stage with. Should this be necessary we will make the appropriate arrangements with no additional charges.
Are there any hidden costs?
There are no hidden costs. The fee we quote you is the fee you pay unless your circumstances or event plans change drastically.
How do I confirm a booking and pay?
Once all arrangements and fees have been agreed, we will need your deposit and a signed copy of our t’s & c’s within 14 days. Deposit can be bank transfer(BACS) or cheque. Once funds have cleared we will send you confirmation via email and your date will be secured. The remaining balance is to be paid in cash on the day of your event, or 14 days before if you wish to pay by bank transfer or cheque.
